Middleton Hunt huntsman charged with illegal fox hunting

Huntsman and joint master of the Middleton Hunt Tom Holt has been charged with hunting a wild mammal with a dog, contrary to Section 1 of the Hunting Act 2004. The case is based on evidence supplied by the League Against Cruel Sports and further investigations carried out by North Yorkshire police in relation to an incident alleged to have taken place during a hunt meet at West Knapton in North Yorkshire on the 19th February 2014. Tom Holt is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on the 3rd September 2014.

Barry Andrews, kennel huntsman for the Middleton Hunt, has been charged with interfering with a badger sett, contrary to Section 3 of the Protection of Badgers Act 1992. The evidence for this case was supplied by the League Against Cruel Sports and further investigations carried out by North Yorkshire police and relates to an incident alleged to have taken place at Bossall, North Yorkshire on the 12th March 2014. Barry Andrews is to appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on the 12th September 2014.
